I'm using my Deviantart account to write about my Tumblr sideblog. Oh, the wonders of the computer age.
As some of you may remember, I run "Ask Magical Total Drama," with the TD characters in a Hogwarts AU. I discussed the season 1-4 characters here, and now I'm in the process of trying to integrate the Pahkitew Island cast. I wrote down some thoughts on Tumblr, but I'm still having some trouble with the Sorting, especially since I'm trying to keep the Houses and male/female ratio as balanced as possible.
Here's what I have so far:
Gryffindor
1.) Jasmine: Seems pretty obvious.
2.) Sammy: I considered putting her with Amy in Slytherin, because she does prove to be pretty sneaky, and others have suggested Hufflepuff, but I figure this way it be sort of a "Neville Sorting" and represent her standing up to Amy. Plus it facilitates her friendship with Jasmine.
3.) Sky: The more I think about it, the more I want her in Hufflepuff, because of her emphasis on teamwork and fair play. Even her issues with Dave (and Keith) could be seen as being "too nice" to be as firm as she needed to be (if you think she wasn't, let's not argue that here). But Hufflepuff already has four people...some have also suggested Ravenclaw, and she seems to indicate she gets good grades, but that doesn't seem as significant to her personality.
4.) Shawn: ...Or Slytherin? This actually wouldn't mess up the numbers, but I can't decide—should I Sort based on the character development he undergoes during the season, or his natural tendency toward self-preservation over others? This would also add a "good Slytherin," which I kind of like on principle.
Hufflepuff
1.) Rodney: There's not really anywhere else he fits.
2.) Ella: Yeah.
3.) Max: I feel strongly that he is not a Slytherin. Is he crafty? Hell no. Ambitious? Not really; he says he wants to rule the world or whatever, but he pretty much just goes around acting as "ee-vil" as possible. Plus he coos at babies. He's clearly a Hufflepuff who's just putting up a front. Honestly, my second option for him is Ravenclaw, because I think he's smarter than people give him credit for (minus one disconnected wire, his mind control helmet totally worked), despite his total lack of common sense.
4.) Beardo: I guess? He seems rather nice when he actually talks. I might move him up to Gryffindor if I put Sky in Hufflepuff—he's really shy but he came on the show so I guess that counts as being brave?
Ravenclaw
1.) Dave: Because...he's sarcastic? And I have nowhere else to put him?
2.) Leonard: Well, he's a nerd stereotype. That probably means "smart," right?
3.) Scarlett: Another of my problem characters, because yeah, she's a strong Slytherin candidate. But I want to balance the numbers, the other Slytherin characters don't fit anywhere else, and as with Slytherin!Shawn, it's sort of interesting to imagine a villain who's in another House instead.
Slytherin
1.) Topher: Self-serving, sneaky, and he likes Chris (who, in the AMTD universe, is Head of Slytherin House).
2.) Sugar: Sweet but willing to do anything to win.
3.) Amy: "Bitch" doesn't automatically equal "Slytherin," but she's manipulative and only out for her own good. (And Sammy's bad, though they usually intersect.)
Just from writing this all out, I'm now thinking of moving Beardo to Gryffindor and moving Shawn and Sky both out. (This would also help balance the gender ratio...hmm. ) Shawn in particular is bugging me, though, because he could fit either way.
Some other things I discuss on that Tumblr link above:
—I think these guys are going to be fifth-years, while the other contestants are sixth-years. The same goes for any new characters in future seasons/spin-offs.
—I'm thinking of making some of these characters related to the other cast. Rodney and Scott could be cousins, right? I'm also considering Noah and Dave being an uncle and nephew (remember Noah has eight older siblings), but I'm wondering if that's too much of a stretch. Would creating familial relationships mess with canon too much?
I appreciate any thoughts you guys have (on my rambling fantasy world).

TDPI Review: 'Pahk'd With Talent'
Time for the final three to show off their "talents."
SARCASTIC SUMMARY
Sky wakes up with Sugar standing over her with a tree branch, ready to strike. Shawn wakes up glancing at Jasmine 2's empty branch, despondent that the two of them never got to have tree-sex. As a side note, all three of our semifinalists have 's' names, and that's not even counting Sammy or Scarlett.
There will be three mini-challenges, each designed by one of the contestants. First place winners get three points, runners-up get two, and losers get one. Sky's challenge is a hurdle race, which Chris has of course stocked with booby traps. Sky falls down a hole, while Sh
TDPI Review: 'Sky Fall'
JoeMerl barely catches up in time for the last two episodes.
SARCASTIC SUMMARY
This episode has nothing to do with James Bond. Just for the record.
Since Dave is gone and Jasmine 2 and Shawn are together, Sky has no choice but to hook up with Sugar. This is problematic because Sugar is kind of a terrible person, and also because she's the new Owen and only wants to eat and fart. But Jasmine 2 and Shawn have their own problem, because she wants to split the prize money between them and open a flower dojo while he wants to keep it all so he can build a zombie-proof bunker. Because of course he does. Frankly, I don't see the conflict;
TDPI Review: 'Scarlett Fever'
This title seems off, since it was the last episode when everybody got sick. My alternate suggestion: "Scarlett Goes Crazy and Stuff."
SARCASTIC SUMMARY
We begin right where we left off with the island going crazy, though Chris is talking to the camera like he's introducing a new episode, so I'm wondering: is this immediately after, or has a whole day or more passed with the contestants enduring random tornadoes and trees shooting up from the ground? Either way, Chris confesses that the island is largely mechanical, because apparently this is more efficient than just finding a new island and adapting to whatever environment nature provides

I know someone has Scarlett and Harold as siblings, so go for it.
